Christmas Concert – Ceolchoirm na Nollag 21st December

PosterWebA beautiful and heart-warming Christmas candlelight concert will be held in an tSeanbheairic on Saturday, 21st of December. This is an opportunity to escape the stress of the ‘commercialised’ Christmas and enjoy a more peaceful and joyful alternative. A simpler and more traditional festive atmosphere will be offered as the concert will draw on  the rich singing and musical tradition of the area and try and recreate the Christmases of long ago.

The concert starts with a screening of the documentary “Ceol na nOileán – Toraigh” showing the wild beauty and sounds of Tory Island and will feature beautiful singing, music and carols. The participants include:

The young children who are participating in the Scoláireacht Éamoinn Ghráinne sean-nós singing project will also perform carols as Gaeilge.

A relaxed and informal festive atmosphere will be created, and singers and musicians are invited to come and sing a song (in any language!), recite a Christmas poem or join in the carols. You can just come and listen too!

The event begins at 8.00 pm and admission is free. Mince pies and other festive delicacies will be available on the night!
