Map Reading and Navigational Skills Training Course

An Evening of Storytelling with Joe Brennan
|
There will be a very special evening of storytelling with master story teller, Joe Brennan in An Sean Bheairic on Tuesday the 14th July during the Falcarragh Festival. Joe , from Ramelton is renowned as a storyteller throughout the county and nationally. He has appeared at An Sean Bheairic twice before as part of the Wainfest ( for Children ) and as part of the Bealtaine festival for the elderly, where he proved very popular with young and old alike. This show will be aimed more at an adult audience, but enjoyable for everyone. So come along and share a story if you wish or just listen to Joe weave his. There will be an admission charge of €10.00 , which includes a glass of wine or tea & snack and the show will start at 8.30 pm –so come early to grab a good seat.

An Irish language conversation group will meet in the Coffee Shop of an Sean Bheairic every Monday evening from 7.30 to 9.00pm. (Starting on Monday 17th Nov.) This is a chance for people to practice or improve their Irish ( and meet new friends) in a relaxed, informal environment.

Taobh Tíre Open Day

An open day/ information day will be held on Tuesday the 2nd of December to promote the “Taobh Tíre” Library Service , which is available at An Sean Bheairic. This service allows members to order any book from any section of the Donegal Library Service’s collection and have it delivered to An Sean Bheairic ,for collection. Staff from the Library Service will be available on the day to explain how the service works and to answer all queries. Membership can obtained on the day or at any time by calling into an Sean Bheairic.

The contemporary Irish language dance drama “A+E” will be performed at an Sean Beairic on Friday 4th October at 8.00pm. This is a co-production between Ciotóg productions and Salamander productions, and directed by Ríonach Ní Néill. The production is currently on a national tour and this will be the only performance in northwest Donegal. Tickets at the door at €10.00/ €8.00. Digital Photography for beginners.

Is taispentas é seo a d’eagair Seirbhís Iarsmallain Chomhairle Contae Dhún na nGall bunaithe ar an pháirt a ghlac fir agus mná as Cuige Uladh ins an Chead Cogadh Domhanda 1914-1918. The historical exhibition ”Before I Joined The Army” will be on display at an tSean Bheairic from May 21st to June 6th .
‘Before I joined The Army’ is a unique travelling exhibition by the Donegal County Museum on the Contribution of Ulster Men and Women to the First World War, which was developed from a temporary exhibition, shown in 2001 on Donegal and The Great War 1914 –1918. 2008 is the 90th anniversary of the signing of The Armistice.
Donegal County Museum especially commissioned a DVD to accompany it. This features footage from the Imperial War Museum and Pathe, music from the period and incorporates images of Ulster men and women.
The exhibition has travelled to various locations including museums, libraries and community venues around the Island of Ireland.
This project is supported by Donegal County Council-Led Task Force under the EU Peace II Programme and part-financed by the Irish government under the National Development Plan. The DVD is supported by the Heritage Council / An Chomhairle Oidhreachta. Further Details 074-9180888

This event is being organised by the Donegal County Council’s library project “Taobh Tíre”. Everyone welcome! “Bealtaine” is a festival run through the month of May celebrating older age.
