A sean-nós dancing competition in Donegal!
Time to take out the polish and shine up those dancing shoes?
Corn na Seanbheairice
Budding, fledgling and more experienced dancers will have the chance to compete for the inaugural Corn na Seanbheairice. The competition is open to dancers of all abilities. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best male dancer. Best female dancer. Best dancer under 18 years of age. Best beginner.
The competition will be judged by one of the most celebrated practitioners of sean-nós dancing, Seosamh Ó Neachtain, from An Spidéal in Co. Galway. Ó Neachtain’s outstanding abilities as a dancer have made him one of the most recognised and respected sean-nós dancers in Ireland. Seosamh will also be conducting workshops in sean-nós dancing that morning.
The competition is being held on Saturday 11th of August and is being organised as the centrepiece of Féile na Seanbheairice, an arts and cultural festival. The festival is being held on the weekend of August 10th – 12th.
